The colors exhibited by gold nanoparticles arise from interaction of incident light with the “free” electrons resulting in resonant excitation of an oscillating dipole (surface Plasmon resonance). The color change is only one of the several modalities that have been exploited for design of biosensors. Some applications of gold nanoparticles In this work, the long-range surface plasmon resonance (LRSPR) sensor based on dielectric Ti3C2Tx-graphene layers is demonstrated. Here, MXene (Ti3C2Tx) is used as a metal for strong surface plasmon’s generation at 1550 nm excitation wavelength. Graphene is used to attach the biomolecules having carbon–carbon structure with pi stacking interactions.

Surface plasmons are the quanta of surface charge density oscillation [ 2 ] likewise the collective oscillations in electron density at surface of metal whose propagation is confined to metal dielectric interface. Here we present a novel surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor for the rapid and quantitative detection of PAPP-A2 in blood samples.

The Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) biosensor is a type of biosensor which is very powerful for detecting and determining the specificity, affinity, and kinetic parameters of macromolecular bonds. The working principle of this biosensor uses metals such as gold (Au), silver (Ag), and aluminum (Al) to excite surface plasmon waves which are very sensitive to changes in the refractive index on Mathcad programs demonstrated that only TM waves could be used for surface plasmon resonance on a metal surface in Otto configuration or Kretschman configuration. With Rouard's recursive method to numerically simulate light reflectivity in a multilayered system, we found benchmarks of SPR biosensors, and got linear relationships about the shift of the SPR angle to the surface concentration of biological films. Summary. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensors belong to label-free optical biosensing technologies. The SPR method is based on optical measurement of refractive index changes associated with the binding of analyte molecules in a sample to biorecognize molecules immobilized on the SPR sensor. 2018-04-26 · An optical surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor can detect the refractive index changes on the surface of sensor chips, label-free and in real-time.

Optical SPR biosensors are a powerful detection and analysis tool that has vast applications in environmental protection, biotechnology, medical diagnostics, drug screening, food safety and security. In this paper, we present a phase-intensity surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor and demonstrate its use for avian influenza A (H5N1) antibody biomarker detection. The sensor probes the intensity variation produced by the steep phase response at surface plasmon excitation.
